The development of waterways in Ida-Viru has been discussed in the county for many years, and the development documents of recent decades emphasise the need to ensure access to the sea and create better opportunities for the development of water tourism and fisheries.
The detailed plan of Narva-Jõesuu Fishing Harbour, adopted in 2020, envisages the construction of a modern harbour that will cater to the needs of fishermen and small-scale mariners. Phase I of the development project was completed in 2022, with the construction of an access road and two concrete slipways.
Within the framework of the project “Preparation of projects related to the development of waterways in Ida-Viru – design”, the design work for the second phase of the Narva-Jõesuu fishing port has now been completed. Phase II includes the design of additional access roads, parking and unloading areas as well as water, sewerage and electricity solutions.
The design work was carried out by Reaalprojekt OÜ, and on 15 October 2024, the Narva-Jõesuu City Government issued the construction permit for the second phase of the fishing port.
The project is supported by the measure for the implementation of the development strategies of the counties for an amount of € 60 000. The implementation period of the project is 2022-2024.
The city of Narva-Jõesuu now has complete technical documentation for the construction of the second phase of the port and has started to apply for co-financing of investment projects from various funds.
The first step has already been taken – the project application for the execution of the construction works of the second phase has been submitted to the first round of the PRIA’s ERDF programme “Community-led local development support for the period 2021-2027” for the action line “Improvement of port infrastructure and diversification of services”.
