Project “Development of Narva-Jõesuu fishing port, I stage”

In Narva-Jõesuu, Kalda street 32a, construction works are underway on the project “Development of the Narva-Jõesuu fishing harbour, stage I”, which aims to create modern conditions for launching small boats and to improve employment opportunities for local fishermen.

The project will include the construction of two concrete slipways, one to the Narva River and one to the canal, as well as a milled concrete access road, a manoeuvring area and partial dredging of the canal.

The fishing harbour area is currently underused and outdated. The only existing facilities are the boat bridge and canal, completed in 1987, which are no longer in a satisfactory condition. The channel is about 15 metres wide and 50 metres long, but the unevenness of the bottom prevents safe navigation. The new works will make the harbour safer and more usable for fishermen and boaters alike.

The detailed plan was adopted in 2020, taking into account the suggestions of local fishermen and the environmental constraints that have hindered the development of the port so far.

The construction works are carried out by Nordpont OÜ, the owner supervision is carried out by Lindvill OÜ, and the project was prepared by Inseneribüroo Urmas Nugin OÜ. The works will be completed by the end of 2022.

The total cost of the project is 248 612,35 euros, of which 168 612,35 euros is a grant from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund 2014-2020 Operational Programme measure “Implementation of the community-led local development strategy” and 80 000 euros is the city of Narva-Jõesuu’s own contribution.

Project promoter: Narva-Jõesuu City Government
Funding: the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, the budget of the city of Narva-Jõesuu.
Contractor: Nordpont OÜ
End of works: end of 2022
