Developing a network of small ports on both the north coast and the Peipsi river

Measure: Support measure for the implementation of county development strategies
Beneficiary: Virumaa Väikesadamate Ühendus (Association of Small Ports of Virumaa)

The aim of the project is the development of the network of small ports in Virumaa and the creation of a common standard for port services, i.e. the harmonisation of port services. The project will link the small ports of the county in a way that has never been done before and will take a step closer to a possible common management. The project was applied for by the Virumaa Small Ports Association, with the city of Narva-Jõesuu, the city of Narva and the municipality of Alutaguse as partners.

Within the framework of the joint activities of the project, a unified logo for the ports of Ida-Viru County was developed, port flags were ordered and a website with a unified logo http://idavirusadamad.ee was created.

In Toila harbour, an access road was built, the waterfront was deepened, an automatic parking system was installed in the harbour and shore area and solar panels were installed on the harbour master’s building.

In Narva-Jõesuu harbour, construction works were carried out to improve the accessibility of the territory (extension of the pedestrian walkway, additional lighting, barrier, car park). In addition, additional pipe booms were installed, outdoor tables with benches, presentation equipment and window coverings for the harbour building were purchased.

A quay with concrete piers was installed in Narva Kulgu harbour and navigation signs were installed at the entrance to Kulgu harbour.

In Alutaguse municipality, a harbour anchorage was built in Rannapungeria and a boat slip was built in Alajõe harbour.

All the municipalities involved in the project gained experience of a joint waterways project, and a common logo and website could play an important role in shaping the decision to further co-manage the county’s small harbours.

The project was supported by the Ministry of Finance under the measure for the implementation of county development strategies. The total amount of the grant is EUR 192 109,95 and the partners’ co-financing is EUR 64 036,65, of which Narva-Jõesuu’s co-financing is EUR 15 500. The project implementation period was 2021-2023.
