PRIA has decided to support the second phase of the development of the Narva-Jõesuu fishing port with €400 000 from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund. The grant was awarded at the request of the Narva-Jõesuu city government through the Virumaa Rannakalurite Ühing (Virumaa Coastal Fishermen’s Association).
Phase II envisages the development of the fishing harbour (Kalda tn 36, Narva-Jõesuu):
– acquisition and installation of four container boilers,
– construction of a parking lot with lighting and a fence,
– construction of a water pipeline and a sewage tank,
– construction of access roads and underground cables,
– installation of a slipway floating quay.
In phase I (2022), the canal was dredged and two slipways and an access road were built. As the Suur-Loots Cultural Quarter is planned to be built on the site of the former fishing cooperative “Oktoober” (Narva-Jõesuu Fishing Harbour) , the professional fishermen of Narva-Jõesuu will move to the city-owned Narva-Jõesuu Fishing Harbour (Kalda 32a), where the necessary support infrastructure will be built.
A public procurement procedure is currently being prepared, with construction scheduled to start in summer 2025.
