Dredging of Narva-Jõesuu pier continues until 15 November

The Environmental Board granted a permit to continue the dredging of the shipping channel at the Narva-Jõesuu pier until 15 November 2025.The previous permit allowed the works to continue until 15 October, but unfavourable weather conditions and the technical specifics of the works necessitated an extension.

The Environment Agency considers that the continuation of the works will not have a negative impact on water quality or fish spawning conditions, as the impact of the works will be localised and limited in time by suitable weather conditions.

The dredging area is located on the state-owned seabed about 700 m off the coast. The expected width of the fairway is 40-50 m and the proposed depth is approximately 3.0 m above mean sea level.

We would like to draw the attention of sailors and fishermen to the fact that navigation in the dredging area will be restricted for the duration of the works.

The pipeline line installed during the dredging works will be marked with buoys.

The dredging works are part of the project “Development of the Ida-Viru Region Waterway Network and Tourism Business”, which aims to ensure safe navigation and support the development of the region’s waterways and small ports.

The project is funded by the European Union Cohesion Policy Fund under the measure “Attractive regional business and living environment”, the support measure for the implementation of the Regional Development Strategies and the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund under the measure “Investment support for fishing ports for the period 2021-2027”.
