The Port of Narva-Jõesuu SA will receive an additional EUR 1 999 999,99 for the construction of the pier. In the framework of the Operational Programme 2021-2027 of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFF), it was decided to allocate an additional grant of EUR 1 999 999,99 for the construction of the Narva-Jõesuu Pier (Application file number: F11412500001). The grant is allocated under the measure ‘Investment support for fishing ports for the period 2021-2027’, which aims to improve access to fishing ports, increase their durability and safety and support environmentally sustainable solutions. Funding from the Fishing Ports Investment Grant will significantly reduce the burden on the budget of the City of Narva-Jõesuu.
The purpose of the jetty is to protect the mouth of the Narva River and ensure the safety and functionality of the harbour and the coast. The works will include the construction of a reinforced barrier, upgrading of access roads and improvements to the embankment. This will ensure safer navigation for professional fishermen and recreational boaters alike. The pier will also be used as a recreational site.
Construction of the Narva-Jõesuu pier started in March 2025, preceded by funding from the European Union Cohesion Policy Fund’s measure “Attractive regional business and living environment” and the support measure for the implementation of regional development strategies. The construction contract was signed on 27.02.2025. The cost of the works, including VAT, is EUR 4 911 712,07.
The deadline for the completion of the pier is 31.07.2026.
